Method for Post Processing of Digitized Events for Accurate Characterization, Application to Scintillation Decay Analysis

2017
Precise quantification of events is often essential to understand phenomena, to be able to process the measured and digitized signals correctly and to identify abnormalities. This project started as an attempt to acquire and quantify the signal output of scintillation detectors. The purpose is to quantify the detector output signal shape so that the electronics engineer can design the acquisition system around it. The method described herein was applied to quantify the impulse response of a photomultiplier and to quantify the scintillation signal from the scintillator itself.
