CASE REPORT: Localized Amyloid Tumor in Small Bowel

2000
Amyloidosis occuring in the gastrointestinal tract is uncommon, and mostly linked to primary or secondary forms of amyloidosis (1, 2). Generally, the disease is diffuse, with other organs involved. Far less frequent, but well-documented, is the localized form of the disease, characterized by absence of systemic involvement. Cases involving the esophagus, the colon, or the rectum are published (3–20). Only three cases report small bowel localizations of this rare entity (21–23).
