Synthesis of different morphologies lanthanum ferrite (LaFeO3) fibers via electrospinning

2015
Abstract One-dimensional LaFeO 3 fibers with different morphologies were synthesized by electrospinning. The crystal structure and morphology were investigated by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The relationship between the morphology of fibers and the concentration of acetic acid and metal nitrate in the precursor was discussed. The results indicated that 1 mL of acetic acid in sol–gel precursors promoted the formation of LaFeO 3 nano-porous fibers. With increasing concentration of metal nitrate, the fibers were belt-like. The effects of morphology on photocatalytic activity were also investigated. The results show that the LaFeO 3 nano-porous fibers exhibit excellent photocatalytic activity.
