Calibration of the zero-field neutron polarimeter Cryopad II

1997
Abstract Spherical neutron polarimetry (SNP) is made possible by replacing the simple adiabatic coil arrangement used on IN20 for classical uniaxial polarisation analysis (UPA) with the zero-field polarimeter called Cryopad. Cryopad II represents the current state of this unique facility and it features numerous practical improvements relative to the prototype Cryopad I. Most noticeable is the new monolithic design which includes a large room temperature vertical sample well. The calibration of Cryopad-II, based on a single nuclear Bragg reflection, turns to be remarkably easy and simple.
