Microstructure and Properties of Iron Based Amorphous Alloy Surfacing Layer Prepared by TIG Welding

2013
A new type iron based alloy powder welding wire consisting of Fe,Cr,B,Mn,Si and so on was welded onto 13Mn steel substrate using TIG welding to create an amorphous surfacing layer. The scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD) and differential scanning calorimetric(DSC) were used to analyze the microstructure, morphology and phase composition of the surfacing layer and the original crystallization temperature of the amorphous. The microhardness and wear resistance were also tested. The results show that the iron based alloy surfacing layer is density and firmly welds to the substrate. The amorphous content of the surfacing layer is about 31.06%(volume fraction) and the crystallization temperature of the amorphous surfacing layer is about 582.3℃.The surfacing layer has high microhardness and wear resistance, and the microhardness near the surface reaches 1000-1200HV0.1.The wear-resisting is better than high chromium cast iron, especially, the wear resistance of the surfacing layer for water treatment is 2 times higher than high chromium cast iron.
