Complete mitochondrial genome of the Burmese Short-Tailed Shrew, Blarinella wardi (Mammalia, Soricidae)

2018
The Burmese Short-Tailed Shrew, Blarinella wardi, is distributed in western Yunnan, southwest Sichuan and Myanmar. It has been listed as Near Threatened (NT) species recently by the red list of China’s vertebrates. We firstly obtained complete mitochondrial genome of Blarinella wardi. In this study, the complete mitogenome sequence is 16,951 bp in length, containing 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and two non-coding regions. Several repeat elements were identified in the non-coding control region (D-loop). This report provides basic data to application in conservation genetics and evolution for this near threatened species.
