Human Telomeric Protein

2005
Telomere is the specific compound at the end of chromosome, composed of the repeated DNA sequence (TTAGGG)_(?) and specific proteins bound to the DNA. Chromosome is protected by telomere. Telomeric proteins exert effect on the function of telomere, regulate the length of telomeric DNA and are involved in senescence and cancerization. Telomeric proteins is composed of double DNA binding protein, single DNA binding protein and telomeric associated proteins. Telomeric binding proteins protect telomeric DNA while telomeric associated proteins have effect on telomere through interaction with telomeric binding proteins. The article reviews the cell biology functions of telomeric proteins.
