The invention discloses a rare earth coordination compound PVC thermal stabilizer and a preparation method thereof; the rare earth coordination compound is N.phenylmaleicamide rare earth coordination compound with a chemical formula of R (OA)3.nH2O, wherein, R stands for rare earth, OA stands for N-phenylmaleicamide and n is equal to 1 or 2; the preparation method comprises the following steps: dripping soluble rare earth inorganic salt water solution in the ethanol water of N-phenylmaleicamide salt to react, generating precipitate and obtaining the N-phenylmaleicamide rare earth coordination compound through washing and vacuum drying. The thermal stabilizer of the invention not only overcomes the defects of the existing thermal stabilizer, but also increases the initial coloration and the long-term thermal stability of PVC; especially, the rare earth coordination compound of the invention has good synergistic effect with calcium stearate, organic tin, pentaerythritol and the like, the combination can increase the thermal stability, tensile strength and breaking elongation of PVC and the coordination compound has cheap price, thus having industrial application prospect.
