In the organic electroluminescent device wherein an organic thin film layer comprising a single layer or plural layers including at least a light emitting layer between a cathode and an anode, at least one layer of the organic thin film, alone or in mixture anthracene derivative having a specific structure the organic electroluminescent device containing as components, as well as anthracene derivative having a specific structure an asymmetric, high luminous efficiency, to provide a long-life organic electroluminescent device and an anthracene derivative for realizing it.
