Intraocular pressure-lowering 11,15-diacylprostaglandin

1990
PURPOSE: To obtain a composition that contains, as an active ingredient, an 11,15-diacylprostaglandin and can lower and retain intraocular pressure with harmful side-effects reduced, particularly lowering eye surface congestion. CONSTITUTION: This composition is prepared by formulating a compound of the formula [dashed bonds represent a double bond which can be in the cis or trans configuration, or a single bond; R 1 is -OH or =O; A is -OH, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof or -OR 1 (R 1 is a lower alkyl); R is a 1-20C acyclic hydrocarbon group, -(CH 2 ) n R 2 (n is 0-10; R 2 is an aliphatic ring, a heterocyclic aromatic ring)], typically 11,15-diisobutyryl PGF 2 α to an ophthalmically acceptable excipient in an amount of 0.0001-1wt.%, preferably 0.001-0.1wt.%.
