Challenges During Diagnostic and Perioperative Imaging in Children with Brain Pathology

2020
Technologies allowing in vivo imaging and therapy of the central nervous system are becoming increasingly available, and modalities to secure safe and effective imaging of patients of all ages are typically provided by anesthesiologists. Periprocedural challenges are specific depending on the imaging technology used and also differ between diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. These, together with the specific concerns inherent to the individual patient (age, comorbidities, etc.), will guide in planning and providing anesthesia care while the patient undergoes neuroimaging.
