Disclosed is an information processing system which contains: a standby thread number information updating means which updates, depending on the state transition of threads requesting to acquire a predetermined lock, the standby thread number information indicating the number of threads waiting for a lock to be released in the spinlock method; and a standby method determining means which determines the standby method for threads requesting to acquire a lock on the basis of the pre-determined upper limit value for the number of threads waiting in the spinlock method and the standby thread number information, which is updated by means of the standby thread number information updating means.
