The ultraviolet absorption spectra of some alkoxy-derivatives of acetophenone

Abstract The ultraviolet absorption spectra of the substituted acetophenones (II; n = 1, 2, and 3, respectively) are discussed in relation to the spectra of 3-, and 4-methoxy-, and 3,4-dimethoxyacetophenone. Mesomeric interaction between oxygen atom and benzene ring diminishes as the value of n increases.
