Thyroid pathology is one of the most common disfunctions seen in women at a fertile age. The homeostasis of the thyroid is equally important for the development of the pregnancy and in the process of getting pregnant, therefore it is very important to maintain the hormonal balance. From the beginning of the pregnancy, multiple functional and structural changes can be seen in the thyroid, the most important being the hormonal needs changing, which results in the treatment that has to be adapted to the pregnancy. The management in discovering a new disfunction of the thyroid during pregnancy is different, as some of the diagnostic investigations are not recommended during this period. This article is reevaluating the management of follow-up and diagnosis of the thyroid pathology during pregnancy.
