Relative reactivity of C-H bonds in unsaturated hydrocarbons
1986
This paper reports an evaluation, by the use of labeled atoms, of the relative reactivity of the C-H bonds in ethene and 1-hexene in reactions involving the removal of a hydrogen atom by atomic hydrogen at 650-900/sup 0/C. The evaluation was carried on the basis of the rate constants of the removal of H by atomic hydrogen from molecules of ethane, ethene, n-hexane, and 1-hexene. The rate constants for these reactions were determined from the results of the pyrolysis of ethane, ethene, n-hexane, and 1-hexene with the addition of propene labeled on the central C atom (C=C*-C, where C* = /sup 14/C).
