Development of high power femtosecond lasers based on the optical parametric chirped pulse amplifications

2001
The optical parametric chirped pulse amplifier (OPCPA) technique is promising for constructing a higher than 100-TW laser system, which is very useful for high intensity physics. We are constructing an OPCPA system generating 10 TW at 1064 nm output for validating system feasibility. The system consists of a femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser oscillator, a Nd:YAG/Nd:glass hybrid pump source, three LiB/sub 3/O/sub 5/ (LBO) optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs) and a final KH/sub 2/PO/sub 4/ (KDP) OPA stage.
