Effect of Sintering Technology on the Performances and Porous Structure of Quartz Porous Ceramics

In order to save the clay resources and exploit the new building material to save energy,the quartz porous ceramics were researched with the low grade quartz sand along the Yangtze River.The effect of sintering technology on the porous structure and performances of quartz porous ceramics was researched,which lay technology foundation for increasing the performance of heat insulating materials.With an increase of sintering temperature,the microstructure of the samples changes while the density increases and the porosity decreases.The density of the porous quartz ceramics increases with extension of holding times,but the porosity decreases.The optimum sintering conditions for the quartz porous ceramic was 1100℃ and 60min,which determined by analyzing energy consumption,cost and properities of the quartz porous ceramics.
