Method and apparatus for treating used refrigerant

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for treating waste refrigerant are provided to treat waste refrigerant without external heat sources. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for treating waste refrigerant comprises a waste refrigerant supply unit(10), a gasification melting furnace(20), a gas supply line(24), a combustion chamber(30), an exhaust gas supply line(31), and post processing equipment(40). The gasification melting furnace thermally decomposes, gasifies, and fuses solid waste. Waste refrigerant supplied by the waste refrigerant supply unit is decomposed by high temperature formed in a process of treating the solid waste and water included in the solid waste. The gas supply line is connected between the gasification melting furnace and the combustion chamber, so thermally decomposed gas and undecomposed refrigerant gas are supplied to the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber burns thermally decomposed gas and decomposes undecomposed refrigerant gas. The exhaust gas supply line supplies the exhaust gas exhausted from the combustion chamber to the post processing equipment. The post processing equipment post-processes the exhaust gas for additional removal of harmful materials.
