The Estimation Model for the Biomass of Chinese fir Plantation in the Central Zone of Distribution Area at Different Development Stages

2014
In this paper,we choose 10 widely used biomass-estimation models to fit the models regarding the biomass and main tree measurement factors among various Chinese fir plantation at different development stages(sapling forest,mid-maturation forest, nearly ripe forest, and mature forest) and component(ground part, leaf, branch, dry skin, and the root). The objective is to obtain the best fitting model for the biomass estimation of Chinese fir. The results show that the power function model has the best goodness-of-fit followed by exponential function model, and the goodness-of-fit of the polynomial model is relatively low. In total,42 best models including 36 organ models and 6 whole plant models are selected for estimating the biomass of the total and single organ of Chinese fir at different development stages such as sapling forest, mid-maturation forest, nearly ripe forest, and mature forest. According to the goodness-of-fit of the model of various organs, the highest fitting models are those with diameter and height as independent variables. These models provided scientific basis for the biomass measurement of Chinese fir plantation at different development stages in central zone of distribution area.
