Comparison of Specific Binding Ratio in the Striatum of Healthy Volunteers between Image Analysis Softwares: DaTView vs. DaTQUANT

2016
2665 Objectives DaTView included VirtualPlace Hayabusa software (AZE, Tokyo, Japan) is an image analysis software for the specific binding ratio (SBR) in I-123-ioflupane-single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) by using Bolt method. However, the SBR calculated from DaTView is reported to be influenced by the settings of baseline, VOI, and other parameters. On the other hand, DaTQUANT (GE healthcare, Little Chalfont, United Kingdom) calculates SBR by fully automated quantification, is thought to be less influenced by above-mentioned settings. Estimation of the variety of SBR in healthy individuals is very important. The aim of this study is to compare differences of SBR under various image reconstruction and correction methods between DaTView and DaTQUANT. Methods This study was approved by local Institutional Review Board, and 19 healthy volunteers were enrolled with written informed consent. Imaging was acquired during 28 minutes with 4 rotations 3 hours after intravenous administration of I-123-ioflupane. Filtered back projection (FBP) and order subset expectation maximum (OSEM) were used for reconstruction of the SPECT data. The image correction methods were as follows: 1) no image correction (AC-SC-), 2) attenuation correction only (AC+SC-), 3) scatter correction only (AC-SC+), 4) attenuation and scatter correction (AC+SC+). SBR in the striatum of all healthy volunteers were calculated by DaTView and DaTQUANT. Mean value (Mean), standard deviation (SD), and coefficient of variation (CV) of SBR were compared between two software. Mann-Whitney U test was performed to evaluate Mean of SBR and p Results As for the reconstruction method, SBR with FBP and SBR with OSEM were almost identical between two software. As for the correction method, Mean SBR with AC+ increased, however, SD of SBR with AC+ did not change in two software. Mean and SD of SBR with SC+ also increased in two software. Mean SBR calculated by DaTQUANT was lower than that by DaTView in all image reconstruction and correction methods. SBR with FBP and AC+ revealed the lowest CV in both DaTQUANT and DaTView (18.0% and 16.5%, respectively). Conclusions CV of SBR with FBP and AC+ was the lowest in both software. FBP with AC+ is considered as the most appropriate image reconstruction method for SBR calculation. Mean SBR of DaTQUANT was lower than that of DaTView.
