Panretinal photocoagulation combined with calcium dobesilate in the treatment of proliferative diabetic retinopathy

2018
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) combined with oral calcium dobesilate in the treatment of proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR). Methods The data of 160 eyes of 80 patients with PDR were selected and analyzed retrospectively. All cases were divided into two groups randomly.Eighty eyes of 40 patients in combination group were treated with PRP combined with calcium dobesilate, and 80 eyes of 40 patients in control group were treated with PRP only. The follow-up time was 6 months. Results The total efficacy rate of the combination group(95.0%) was better than that of the control group(83.8%) (P=0.040). The difference in BCVA was not statistically significant between 2 groups before surgery (P=0.649). The BCVA in the combination group was better than that of the control group in 1 month after operation (P=0.014). The difference in central macular thickness and macular retinal thickness were not significant between the 2 groups before and after operation(P=0.920, 0.896). The neovascularization and fluorescein leakage area value of the combination group was less than that of the control group(P=0.043). Conclusion PRP combined with oral calcium dobesilate in treatment of PDR is effective.
