Synthesis of α-Ketols by Functionalization of Captodative Alkenes and Divergent Preparation of Heterocycles and Natural Products.

The presented method is used in the synthesis of naturally occurring alkaloid actinopolymorphol B (XVa) which is further transformed into the alkaloid tanakine (XVII).
