Low Power UART Design Using Different Nanometer Technology Based FPGA

2018
In order to analyze the energy requirement of UART on different nanometer based technology FPGA, authors have designed a UART which is synthesized on Xilinx ISE Design 14.1 whose results were tested on 45nm FPGA, 90nm FPGA, and 65nm FPGA. The 45nm FPGA has device name Spartan-6, and its part name is xc6slx4, having package-tqg144 which runs on -3 speed grade having an ambient temperature of 25.0°C. The 90nm FPGA has device name Spartan-3, part name-xc3s50, package-pq208, and it runs on -5 speed grade at an ambient temperature of 25.0°C. And, finally the 65nm FPGA has device name Virtex-4, part name-xc4vfx12, package-sf363 running on -12 speed grade having ambient temperature of 50.0°C. Verilog hardware description language is used to design the UART. And power is analyzed for 45nm, 90nm, 65nm technology based FPGA using XPower Analyzer.
