Quetiapine in primary insomnia : a pilot study

2008
In the treatment of primary insomnia, benzodiazepines and non-benzodiazepine hypnotics are not a first-line medication, mainly due to the dependency risk, especially in longterm treatment. Sedating antidepressants are widely used as an alternative treatment (Wiegand 1999). However, these compounds have several side effects and tend to interact with other drugs, which is a problem especially in elderly patients.
