Influence of MnO2 on the Burnability and Mineral Formation of Alite-sulphoaluminate Cement Clinker

2009
The influence of MnO 2 on the burnability and mineral formation of alite- sulphoaluminate cement clinker was studied in this article. Results showed that when the raw meal mixed with MnO 2 burned at a lower temperature, the amount of free lime (f-CaO) remarkably increased with the increased adding amount of MnO 2 . However, with the rising of the burned temperature, the effect of MnO 2 decreased. The raw mix prepared from commercial raw materials with the addition of MnO 2 can be bumed to get high grade clinker at the temperature lower than 1350°C. When the adding amount of MnO 2 was lower than 1 %, the formation of C 3 S mineral increased; C 3 S mineral decreased obviously when the adding amount was larger than 2%. The formation of calcium sulphoaluminate mineral decreased with the addition of MnO 2 . The addition of MnO 2 is bad for the formation of calcium sulphoaluminate mineral, since the formation of ferrite phase increased remarkably with the increased addition of MnO 2· .
