Method for producing methylenebisbenzotriazolyl (hydroxyalkyl) phenol compound

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process capable of efficiently producing a methylenebisbenzotriazolyl(hydroxyalkyl)phenol compound. SOLUTION: In producing the methylenebisbenzotriazolyl(hydroxyalkyl) phenol compound by heating a benzotriazolyl(hydroxyalkyl)phenol compound and a mixture including a Mannich base and a basic catalyst, the heating of the mixture is conducted while removing a secondary amine gas produced in the progression of the reaction of the mixture from the mixture by a method comprising, for example, absorbing the gas in a secondary amine dissoluble solvent.
