Sarcoma botryoides of the common bile duct: Report of a case and review of the literature

1966
Summary A case of sarcoma botryoides of the common bile duct occurring in a 41/2 year old child is presented. The case is considered the seventh recorded example of this lesion. Careful evaluation of the reported cases reveals botryoid sarcoma of the common bile duct to be an embryonal sarcoma occurring primarily in children, producing obstructive jaundice with a febrile course, frequently associated with a tender liver or upper abdominal mass and characterized by a rapidly fatal course with both regional and distant metastases.
