Present Status of Kice W4An Oil Industry in Gujarat

Rice bran is a potential source of much needed edible oil in India A survey research conducted to find out the present status of rice bran oil industry in state or Gujarat revealed that only six out of more than fifty solvent extraction plants available, process the nee bran oil for oil extraction The bran obtained only from sheller type modern nee mills is more or less pure and is used for oil extraction On the other hand, the huller bran having husk admixture is utilised for cattle feed only. Only one solvent extraction plant in the state has stabilization technique to check the deterioration of rice barn before processing The details of processing operations being followed by the nee bran oil industry in Gujarat has been described in the paper.
