New Apparatus for the Study of the Gasification of Char in High Temperature and Pressure Environments

The experimental determination of reaction rate of solids like wood or coal involving change of weight when they are submitted to high temperature and pressure environment is necessary to achieve optimal design and better understanding and modelling of the processes. The aim of the paper is to present the general set up of a new thermobalance apparatus. Some of the salient features of the device are: pressure up to 8MPa. temperature up to 1300K. heating rates up to 100K/min. flow rates up to 20 cm/s. (NTP) sample weight up to 10g. temperature of the sample bed continuously followed.
