Alteration in macro and micro minerals in experimentally induced hypocuprosis in buffalo calves

2005
Hypocuprosis was achieved in 13 buffalo calves by administering varying closes of ammonium molybdate. The mean plasma and hair copper levels were 1.15p0.10 and 8.28p0.38ppm respectively. MO induced hypocuprosis resulted in significant increase in plasma Cu concentration ( 1.43p0.18PPM) associated with decline in hair (6.02p0.22ppm) and liver (22.59p10.01 ppm) Cu levels. Besides, increased Fe, phosphorus and decreased zinc concerltration are also observed. The Mo concentration in the plasma, hair and lives revealed a significant increase throughout the period of induction. Ca, Mg, Mn, K and S did not reveal any significant alteration.
