The problem of plastic deformation of asphalts under traffic has not been solved completely. If one would judge a mixture on its rutting behaviour in the future one has to consider resistance to primary rutting as well as resistance to delayed rutting. The author gives a formula and graphs based on Marshall characteristics, mix composition, traffic, and compaction degree to calculate rutting susceptibility.
