Raman scattering of a CdTe/ZnTe superlattice and quantum wells

We report on multiphonon resonant Raman scattering in a new and interesting (CdTe) 2 (ZnTe) 4 /ZnTe short-period superlattice multiple quantum well (SSQW). Overtones up to the 13th order, which involved the ZnTe LO phonons confined in both the barriers of SSQW and the short period superlattices, were observed. The overtones arise from Raman scattering outgoing resonance with two different kinds of excitons in the barriers and wells of SSQW. This may account for the observation of up to 13th orders of multiphonon scattering
