Organizations are characterized by having their own and specific organizational cultures; especially, in service provider companies such as hotel chains, considering that this type of organization is the fundamental pillar of tourism activity, which has an important weight in the balance of payments of many countries and, especially in Ecuador considering that for the year 2017 represented the third source of non-oil income. Hence, the study of the organizational culture of small and medium-sized hotel companies represents an essential element to improve their competitiveness and positioning in the market. Therefore it is proposed to analyze the organizational culture and performance of the hotel SMEs in the city of Machala in light of the approaches of the model developed by Cameron and Quinn.
