On the compatibility of polyfluoroethylenes

1981
Abstract The method of scanning calorimetry has been used to investigate polyfluoroethylene blends. Despite similarity in the chemical nature of the initial components the samples examined all had two melting points close to the corresponding temperatures for the initial components. This shows that the polymers of interest are incompatible at the molecular level, and evidences absence of isomorphism in the polymers. On the other hand the similarity in the chemical nature of the components leads to their compatibility in amorphous regions as evidenced by the blends having only a single glass-transition temperature situated between glass transition temperatures of the initial polymers.
