Modeling and Fuel Blending

2012
This chapter discusses the role of modeling in fuel blending. Models can help visualize a process or system, such as fuel silos, coal pipes, burners, and gas flows. Numerical models can be used to analyze gas and water flows in a boiler to determine if it is working correctly. Other types of models, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD), zonal, and thermodynamic models, are discussed. Computational fluid dynamics is explained in detail. The methods for analyzing the content of fuel blends are presented.
