Expectativas y capital académico de estudiantes de nuevo ingreso a ingeniería en Mexicali, México: Discusión desde la perspectiva de género

In order to identify differences in academic performance among men and women, a survey was administered to engineering students in four higher education institutions in Mexicali, Mexico. The results obtained show that there is a significant statistical difference between males and females in some of the variables studied, including prior education, scholastic expectations and some aspects related to their academic capital. Even though women reported using more frequently learning strategies and having had a higher academic achievement, they do not expect to outperform their male counterparts. These data is analyzed from a gender perspective.
