Drugs That Affect Lipid Metabolism
2017
Abstract Drugs that affect lipid metabolism are used with the aim to decrease negative outcomes such as cardiovascular-related morbidity and mortality. Six classes of lipid-lowering medications exist, and each has a variety of actual or potential side effects associated with their use. These medications are discussed in the following chapter with a focus on side effects as described in current literature. Evidence presented should be used in context and may aid clinical decision-making through identification of appropriate monitoring for actual or potential side effects of lipid-lowering medications.
