Power Flow Control using Modular Multilevel Converter with circulating current control for 3-phase AC/AC Conversion

2020
A new AC/AC modular multilevel topology has introduced which is known as the modular multilevel converter (MMC). It reduces semiconductor losses because of its modular design with cascaded full-bridge cells. It is possible to realize lightweight and downsizing having its transformer-less configuration. The capacitor voltage is managed constantly for the stability of the power system. The operating principle is explained for the loop connection with the source to the load through the MMC and grid-connected three-phase MMC. The converter systems offer superior performance for the applications. The principle of the proposed control is explained and simulation results in the same typical situations for the grid-connected inverter and the loop power controller are presented.
