eter, connected to the common femoral vein, and showing reflux >0.5 s. Secondary endpoints were recurrent varicose veins in the SFJ region ( 0.5 s) seen on ultrasound scanning, new varicose veins according to the REVAS classification, and surgical morbidity. Clinical examination and colour duplex ultrasound scans were carried out after 7‐14 days, 3‐4 months, and one year, and will be continued thereafter on a yearly basis. Results: The clinical recurrence rate was 1.1 % after 3‐4 months and 6.4 % after one year. The SFJ recurrence rate on ultrasound scanning was 0.53 % after 3‐4 months and 2.24 % after one year. SFJ recurrence was haemodynamically significant (diameter >5 mm) in only two of these patients (0.29 %). Conclusion: One year after surgery, the recurrence rate of standardised SFL/S is very low.
