A Low Current Ripple and Wide Voltage Gain Range Bidirectional DC-DC Converter with Coupled Inductor

2019
In this paper, a bidirectional DC-DC converter with coupled inductor is proposed. The proposed converter can achieve a wide voltage gain range by turning the ratios of windings of the coupled inductor. Furthermore, the voltage stress across the power switches is reduced. By employing a low current ripple (LCR) structure, a tiny input/output current ripple can be achieved, which can avoid larger filters. In addition, the common ground structure between the grounds of the input and the load sides can avoid extra du/dt issues. A prototype rated at 400W/300V has been developed and the maximum efficiency of the proposed converter was measured as 94.2%. Experimental results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed converter.
