Reliability of the Sustainability Assessment

2014
Abstract Studies are being performed related to environmental, economic and social impact assessments in order to provide a broader analysis of the Sustainability Assessment. However, these approaches rarely provide information about the reliability of the data used in its analyses. Without reliable information the decision making related to the sustainability area is at risk. This paper discusses that the same tool used for the reliability of the data on a global level in LCA studies can be used in economic and social analyses. For this purpose, changes are proposed in three indicators of Matrix Pedigree. As an example, a case study was used only to illustrate the reliability determination on a global level. Using Matrix Pedigree in three dimensions (environmental, economic and social) makes the Sustainability Assessment reliable bringing credibility and transparency to the results obtained with studies and making that decision-making, related to the sustainability area to be better grounded.
