Evaluation and Discussion of the Evidence

This Chapter discusses the archaeological information generated by the surveys and the records searched. We discuss: types of site recorded in the Chonos Archipelago, visibility and preservation of the archaeological record, coastal remodelling as an agent of change, spatial distribution of archaeological sites, characteristics of lithic technology, circulation of obsidian pieces in western Patagonia, the diversity of the faunal record, human and faunal isotopes and the interpretation of the diet consumed, chronology of the archaeological record and finally the use of space and function of sites.
