Adsorption and orientation of benzoic acid on aluminum oxide: An infrared study
1983
Abstract Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy has been used to show that benzoic acid adsorbs on aluminum oxide as benzoate ions, oriented with their rotational symmetry axes approximately normal to the surface. In addition a benzoic acid surface species, not observed by inelastic tunneling spectroscopy, was found.
