SE VOCÊ DISPONIBILIZAR, ELES CONSTRUIRÃO? A EDUCAÇÃO CAPTURADA PELO IDEÁRIO DA CULTURA HACKER E ALGUMAS REFLEXÕES SOBRE OS MODELOS CONTEMPORÂNEOS DE EAD

2019
This article problematizes a claim that is current in optimistic studies on new digital technologies in Education:that participants in networked computer-mediated spaces are highly motivated people who aim to create, intervene and produce, that is, to become authors. The idea of a free, autonomous subject, participant incommunities organized via the internet is reminiscent of an ideology that dates back to the early days of USuniversity computing. In the sixties and seventies, this environment was strongly influenced by counter-cultural values that aimed at creating alternatives to the rigid and highly bureaucratic systems of governments and large corporations. The text discusses hacker culture and its relationships with current movement of open, democratic and participatory education (Open Education) in the 2000s: MOOC, OER and PLE. This movement influences developers and public managers responsible for on-line distance courses, fostering high expectations of a highly creative and autonomous student, a student profile that does not predominate in empirical studies which analyse computer and internet usage neither by students nor by the general public. Based upon these reflections, the piece discusses the current scenario.
