Vehicle Segmentation byEdgeClassification MethodandtheS-T MRF Model

Inthispaper, wepropose atracking algorithm, whichisbased onthecollaboration oftheS-TMRF modelanda dedicated segmentation algorithm. Although theS-TMRF modelwasdesigned toberobust against occlusion, itregards vehicles thatmoveinparallel occluding eachotherfromthe begining totheendofthetraffic images asasingle region. In ordertocompensate sucha defect ofS-TMRF,we have developed a dedicated segmentation algorithm whichdecides boundaries ofvehicles contained insucha single region by referring tothedifference ofedgepatterns amongthevehicles. By theexperiments using traffic videofromthreedifferent angles atdifferent locations, ourmethodwasproved tobevery successful.
