Tl-based patterned superconducting structures: fabrication and study

2010
We present results concerning procedures of Tl, Re?Ba?Ca?Cu?O superconducting film preparation and patterning. The films are suitable as a model structure of superconducting limiters or coplanar structures with possible exploitation in photodetectors and as microbridges. We compare the structural and electrical properties of the final films from the point of their applicability for limiters and photodetectors. Tl-based films grown on a LaAlO3 substrate are used for the fabrication of the coplanar structures while for limiter model structures a CeO2 buffered R-plane sapphire is used as a substrate. The prepared films are black and continuous with sufficient adhesion to the substrate. X-ray diffraction of all the films confirms the presence of the Tl-2212 phase with a critical temperature up to 95?K. We show some electrical properties of the prepared patterned superconducting structures, too. These structures will be used for further analyses to confirm their applicability as cryoelectronic devices.
