Differential Diagnosis of Radiographic Images of Maxillofacial Lesions

2021
A variety of lesions occur in the mouth, jaw, and face. In conventional radiography, some of these lesions remain unnoticeable due to the presence of soft tissue around them. However, we could utilise when lesions are present on bone, they can be easily distinguished using contemporary radiography. In the last two decades, apart from conventional radiographic techniques, there has been an increase in the use of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in addition to dental implants in the treatment of oral and maxillofacial lesions. Additionally, the use of soft tissue or bone window CT scan and the use of MRI have been considered in the past in dealing with these lesions.
