Recent progress of ITER FW/blanket design and preparations for fabrication

2006
Recent progresses of the first wall (FW) and blanket design are reported in this paper. Considering the plasma-wall interaction, especially the halo current distribution, a multi-facetted surface shape of the inboard FW panel has been optimized. Moreover, the FW design has been updated considering the fabrication methods (machining, welding and inspection). Detail design of the flexible supports and keys to support blanket modules has also progressed considering electrical insulation and assembly scheme. Electromagnetic and structural analyses show that the reaction forces on the keys during plasma disruptions are increased by acceleration of the module in gaps between the key and keyway. The dynamic amplification factor strongly depends on the damping factor, and testing to measure the factor is required.
