Governmental Organization and Control Over Environmental Policies

2012
Cuba has a vast number of agencies controlling its interior lands, coastal and maritime areas. This chapter describes the framework of these agencies, institutes and how their existence is linked to catalysts such as the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. There are also two maps in this chapter that illustrate the year protected areas were established as well as what general entity is in charge of each protected area. The chapter concludes with the Ministry responsible for human health issues. The reason for its inclusion here is the direct link between a healthy environment and a healthy population.
