Development of SO3 concentration measurement system

No continuous analysis method is available for the measurement of SO 3 in flue gas, which may cause the low temperature corrosion and violet smoke. IHI has developed a prototype of an SO 3 concentration measurement systemusing both chemometrics and an ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy. SO 3 could be measured at the same time as SO 3 , SO 2 , NO and NH 3 in the chimney. A continuous period of three months was monitored by setting up the device in an existing boiler. As a result, the measurement value of the device was confirmed to agree with the measurement results by the manual analysis (condensation method).
